Blueberry & Ginger Gin Cooler

Cocktail of the month November 2020

Weddings arenโ€™t the only thing we like to get creative with here at Shaken & Stirred Weddings, we LOVE a good cocktail too.

Kellie is especially talented in mixing ingredients and concocting something new and unique. Charlotteโ€™s talent on the other hand lies mainly in being the hand model for photos and a sometimes over enthusiastic taste tester! Together, we balance each other out in our cocktail kitchen in the same way we do when planning your Queenstown wedding day.

But enough about us, we know youโ€™ve landed here for a recipe so here goesโ€ฆ

Why is this drink so good?

Well it does have blueberries in it, and they make you live longer donโ€™t they?

It also has plenty of gin, which the Queen drinks a lot of, and sheโ€™s looking fantastic for 95 years old.

And finally, a healthy dose of ginger, which is known to have healing properties and helps to settle nervesโ€ฆ even wedding day jitters!

What weโ€™re trying to say is that this cocktail is basically good for you, and it tastes delicious!

What youโ€™ll need:

Ingredients:

  • Blueberries
  • Ginger
  • Gin
  • Simple Syrup

ย

Equipment:

  • A carafe
  • A grater
  • A knife
  • A muddler
  • A mixing spoon

ย

Makes:

  • 2 drinks (plus a top up each)

1. Start with your Blueberriesโ€ฆ

You can use fresh blueberries or defrost from frozen. Add one cup of blueberries to a pitcher, how nice is Kellieโ€™s fancy crystal glass pitcher?!?!

2. Add ginger

Grate some fresh ginger and drop it into the pitcher with the blueberries. A couple of teaspoons will do and thereโ€™s no need to peel the ginger first.

2. Get Muddling...

Now comes the fun part, muddle the blueberries-ginger mix by pushing down and twisting the muddler.

4. Add remaining ingredientsโ€ฆ

Add a glug of simple syrup, free pour a couple of shots of gin in there, then top the pitcher to almost full with soda water and ice.

And enjoy!
